Mudhoney – Mudhoney (Sub Pop; 1989)

It was before they became goofy, has-beens, or even important. Then the clerk handed me this record, displaying the poorly dressed slackers in a purplish-tinted photo, stretched skinny and distorted as the heroes and heroines on some ill-formatted videocassette of a 007 70’s classic. And what about its liver spots? No, there is nothing…unlike the rest of the goofy garbage they would later churn out as if Zappa himself became their masochistic father. It was a turn of events. The times were ending. It was 1989 and Mudhoney were the rudest and crudest of the ragamuffins in flannel.
