“Scary as the Thought of You”

Crimes for passion

and chimes for rats

the pests and pestilence

just to turn around on dimes

in coffee and in cake

knock upon this coffin

tell me of tattletales

snowy rooftops, mouse tails

the ones which lie

cold news to whip or snap you

the drudgery of the drawbridge

scary as the thought of you

your cares are miles away

and when we find that cold thin dime

we’ll be skinny enough

to slip through this poverty

to collect blue flames

from our dancing stove

scarred like the thought of you

dizzy at the thought of you

our muzzles

form footsteps to each other.
