The saddest thing
is never sadness
but a lie cloaked in positives
for we: destitute
do too know moments of delight
there are two moments of delight
in these moments of delight
flashing in the clutch of candle flame
to put you out
in brown leather riding gloves
the horses catch the firelight
and the carvings
of our mahogany resting stead
did steer us far away from another dread
did save us instead
and let us know
moments of delight once more
in firelight flicker
the candles come and gone
but we love dawn in our resting pieces
numb moments of delight once more.
