“Photographs for Royalty”
I awoke to the flowers of my vomit
and tells the splintered heart of old
we were rash to be photographs
but presence wrapped so secretly
the severity of moonlight moonshine
drop, skip, and a jump rope
but horrible omens did ever cease
train-drowned rivers the seat of disease
explore with us these daisies and your fire
the underwear of submarines
and laughing-glass smocks
we tied up the dirty dishes
lunged at panthers secretly
in bellies of storks
please pet the ragweed and cattails
this umbrella falls
and we’re swamp-innocent
the cottontails of rattlesnakes in the mail
your ivory broken branches,
onyx through a beautiful river
of infinite and this pain of honey.
